Parent & carer involvement

The team around each pupil is incredibly important.

From the very start of visiting to assess for a placement we are building strong relationships with parents and carers. Our parents and carers know our pupils the best.

After receiving the school’s welcome booklet and, having attended the school for the first half term, parents and carers and other professionals will be invited to attend a MAP or a PATH meeting. In this meeting, we will explore the pupil’s journey from birth to the present day and what the dream is for their child.

We share fortnightly newsletters with parents and carers which detail the progress and provision, wow moments and include the voice of the pupil. Each term, parents and carers will be invited to attend a joint celebration day. In the past, these have taken place in our woodland. An annual parents meeting will take place in the summer term.

Some of our pupils’ parents may not live locally to where their child is residing. We are supportive of visiting pupils when they are in school and we will work with individual families to ensure that they continue to have a strong relationship with their children. We enhance this connection by using the Evidence for Learning Family App, which you can download below:

In addition, some of our pupils may have termly PEP (Personal Education Plan), CLA (Child that is Looked After) and EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan) meetings. The team around the child/adult will come together to discuss the progress and support given.
