A message from our Headteacher

Welcome to Felix School.

I have the privilege of leading a school that is intentionally small, highly nurturing and proudly ambitious for every child and young person who walks through our doors.

Our vision is simple, My voice. My choice. My lifelong learning. It places the child at the heart of all we do and builds everything else around them. Due of our size, staff can invest the time to understand each learner’s interests, strengths and barriers. That depth of relationship underpins the trust, and the courage, children need to attempt new challenges, recover from setbacks and discover their own potential.

What sets Felix School apart is the balance we strike between robust academic learning and specialist wellbeing support. Our discovery based curriculum blends traditional subjects with practical, real world projects so that knowledge is meaningful and memorable. At the same time, therapists and teachers work side by side, using the PACE approach and a “solutions, not sanctions” philosophy to ensure emotional needs are met promptly and positively.

Learning rarely stays inside four walls. Weekly enrichment visits, community partnerships and enterprise projects give pupils first hand experiences that broaden horizons and reinforce classroom content. Whether a child is mastering fractions, planning a community garden or
refining social communication skills, we give academics and personal growth equal status, because both are essential for a confident transition into adult life.

Our partnership with families, carers and local authorities are central to our success. You will find open communication, regular progress updates through Evidence for Learning and a genuine invitation to shape your child’s next steps with us. Working together, we can provide the consistency and encouragement that help every young person thrive.

I hope this website offers a clear window into our ethos and practice. Should you wish to see Felix School in action, please do arrange a visit. We would be delighted to show you the difference a small, bespoke setting can make.
