From the very start of visiting to assess for a placement we are building strong relationships with parents and carers. Our parents and carers know our pupils the best.
Parent & carer involvement

The team around each pupil is incredibly important.
From the very first enquiry, we place families at the centre of their child’s or young person’s journey with Felix School. Prospective pupils and their parents or carers are invited for a guided visit, during which they meet key staff, tour the learning spaces, and receive a welcome booklet that outlines our curriculum, support services, and day-to-day routines. Shortly after admission, we convene a “Team Around the Child” meeting with parents, the pupil, and any external professionals. Together, we agree on priorities and design a bespoke timetable that best meets the learner’s needs and aspirations.
Communication remains continuous. Each child’s or young person’s teacher and key worker are just a phone call or email away, and parents receive a personalised newsletter every fortnight celebrating progress, sharing targets, and highlighting upcoming events. Termly review meetings provide a more comprehensive update, while the Evidence for Learning app allows families to view photographs, videos, and assessment notes as they are uploaded—creating a real-time window into classroom achievements. By combining open-door access, regular updates, and genuine collaboration, we build the trusting relationships that help every pupil thrive both in school and at home.
We enhance this connection by using the Evidence for Learning Family App, which you can download below:
In addition, some of our pupils may have termly PEP (Personal Education Plan), CLA (Child that is Looked After) and EHCP (Education Health and Care Plan) meetings. The team around the child/adult will come together to discuss the progress and support given.
